Net Impact Event

“Where Sustainability Meets Disaster Preparedness”

Community Resilience Panel Discussion

September 21, Tuesday, 6:30pm

Every community is subject to natural and human-made disasters of all types – earthquakes, floods, fires, and events that result in mass casualties. Just as sustainable communities are prepared to have the smallest impact on their environment, they are also prepared to survive and recover from such events. This requires a level of preparedness and collaboration between individuals, families, businesses, and government emergency services.
In recognition of September’s National Disaster Preparedness Month, the Net Impact San Francisco Professional Chapter will explore the intersection of community resilience, disaster preparedness, and partnerships between government, businesses and nonprofit organizations to ensure the continued survivability and sustainability of our Bay Area community. In this panel session and facilitated discussion, we will discuss:
* Probable emergency scenarios and risk assessments for the Bay Area and the resulting damage and recovery estimates
* Infrastructure issues that concern disaster preparedness, community resilience, and sustainability-in-practice alike
* How community resilience and disaster preparedness can work in collaboration to promote a more sustainable Bay Area
* Available private sector – NGO and corporate – resources available to your community and workplace to contribute to a more resilient community
Space is limited! Please RSVP to secure your spot!
