The devastation in Haiti by recent earthquakes has been on all of our minds. We at the Hub want to contribute to the relief effort while initiating a dialogue about the social impact and hurdles Haiti now faces. So we’re hosting Hub4Haiti dinners. Modeled after the Hungry for Obama, the idea is to launch a series of dinners where members and friends can contribute towards the relief effort while enjoying a dinner, building community and dialogue around the larger issues surrounding this tragedy. We will start the chain here at the Hub with a Kickoff potluck next Wednesday February 3rd, and then those who attend, will in turn host their own dinner. We ask those who come to the dinners to contribute whatever they can towards the relief effort (suggested donation$25/person). If you wish to host your own dinner please sign up on the facebook page and we will help you spread the word.

The money will be going to an organization called Merlin USA (Medical Emergency Relief  International). The West Coast Director of Merlin and friend of the Hub Bay Area, Alex Cottin, is on the ground in Haiti helping with the relief effort. Alex will likely come into the Hub sometime in April to give us an update about the situation and the work he is doing there. For more information about Hub4Haiti visit our facebook  page.

We encourage you all to participate and donate in any way that you can. Below are other opportunities sent in by Hub members to support the Haiti relief effort. If you have any comments, questions or your own cause that you would like to share with us, please comment, tweet or message us. Let’s work together to help Haiti.
